Kobe was a 7 month old deaf and blind white male with
natural ears when he arrived at the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League (MAGDRL) - NC Chapter in July 2009. He was emaciated
and had a slight skin infection when he came to rescue with his brother, Diesel, another blind and deaf white male. Over the
next few months Kobe and his brother physically improved while in the care of separate foster families. MAGDRL volunteer Lisa
diligently worked with Kobe using touch commands during his recovery period. Lloyd and Leslie Navarro met Kobe and his brother
at a MAGDRL adoption event sponsored by PetSense in Kinston, NC. Before the Navarro's three-hour return back to Pinehurst
area, the adoption process had already begun for Kobe!
In October
2009, Kobe's foster Mom brought him to Kobe's permanent home with the Navarro Family. Kobe gets along great with his doggie
siblings, three other great danes named Angel (deaf), Rio, and Bella. Within a month, he has learned where all the furniture
in the home is located and trees/shrubs of their fenced in and front yards. The Navarros have continued the touch command
obedience with Kobe with great success. Kobe has wonderful personality coupled with a healthy independence streak which overshadows
any obstacles posed by his handicaps. Kobe has made a near full physical recovery from his early days due to the efforts of
MAGDRL and the Navarro Family.

note from Gail {Mary Puppins} -
A special
Happy Holidays and heartfelt thanks to the Navarro Family; MAGDRL; the vets and volunteers, especially Lisa for working
with abandoned and abused animals.
I can
attest that these dogs do not know they have 'disabilities'.
Lynn and
I love Angel, Rio, Bella and Kobe, they are our family!
